Alberta Bill 33 would bar DEI-based hiring and mandatory DEI training at public bodies and create a provincial offence for intimate deepfakes

Tabled 27 October, the Justice Statutes Amendment Act, 2026 (No. 2) amends the Alberta Human Rights Act so provincial bodies, including Crown corporations, post-secondaries, school boards and municipalities, cannot use section 10.1 diversity programs in hiring or promotion except as regulations allow. It also widens the intimate-images law to AI-altered content, with fines up to $10,000 and up to two years in jail.
