Sturgeon County approves piling and grading for Meta’s Alberta data centre site; only the applicant can appeal

Two new Sturgeon County development permits, a piling-only permit for the first data-centre building and mechanical yard (DP-26-0293, effective 10 November) and a grading permit for “phased development of Data Processing Facility” (DP-26-0241, effective 12 November), follow the master site permit that took effect on 7 July. Because these are permitted uses in a Heavy Industrial zone, the county’s notices say only the applicant can appeal, unless the Land Use Bylaw was relaxed, varied or misinterpreted.
