DOJ charges 18 more noncitizens with voting in North Carolina, bringing the state’s 2026 total to 30

The Justice Department said on 29 October that federal grand juries and prosecutors in North Carolina’s three districts have charged 18 more noncitizens: nine in the Eastern District, five in the Middle and four in the Western. DOJ says all but one are lawful permanent residents; one is in the country illegally. Most face a false claim of citizenship to vote (up to five years) and voting by an alien (up to one year). DOJ’s release alleges some voted for decades. All are presumed innocent.
