Canada (Kalibrate, 18 Sep 2026): volume-weighted regular gasoline 189.0 ¢/L; diesel 276.7 ¢/L. City prints often exceed $3/L diesel in B.C. and Quebec (Vancouver 302.2 ¢/L; Montréal 300.2 ¢/L; Toronto ~264.6 ¢/L on the same table).
United States (EIA, week of 14 Sep 2026): regular gasoline $4.319/gal (+$0.162 week-over-week); on-highway diesel $6.285/gal (+$0.318 WoW; +$2.546 year-over-year) — described by EIA and trade press as a record weekly national diesel average. California diesel ~$8.04/gal; West Coast ~$7.25/gal.
EU-27 (EC Oil Bulletin, week of 14 Sep): Euro 95 petrol €1.924/L (≈ +0.7% WoW); diesel €2.075/L (≈ +2.2% WoW). Malta remains among the cheapest diesel markets; Nordic pumps among the dearest.
One fuel, three meters — and all three point up for diesel in the same mid-September window.

Tax context, not the whole story: Canada’s federal fuel excise remains suspended (gas −10¢/L, diesel −4¢/L) through 31 January 2027 after a 15 September extension; the consumer carbon price was already cancelled 1 April 2025. U.S. and EU pump prices embed different excise and VAT structures — which is why euro-area litres convert to higher USD/gal equivalents even when wholesale cracks move together.
